Follow up from our October 15, 2011 Silent Auction Fundraiser

Thank you so much to everyone who came to support for our event at Schanks North in October! It was a very successful evening, with over 200 people in attendance who purchased tickets and many more who were there to watch the game but still participated in the auction and our 50/50 draw. Hundreds of items were sold with all proceeds going directly to BTLC. We would especially like to thank all of our event coordinators, generous donors, parents, staff, and volunteers who helped make everything at the event run so smoothly.

Finally, we would like to congratulate to our 3 lucky door prize winners:

  • Danielle English
  • Brent Grisdale
  • Blanche Halyk
Follow up on the Autism Community Network Weekend

We would like to thank everyone who attended the Autism Community Network weekend in September! There were several people from various agencies as well as parents and families who came to attend the celebration. A number of pledges were collected by the AP/BTLC group for the Walk/Run for Autism. A special thanks to the staff who took part in organizing Saturday and Sunday's events.

Parent and Tot Dance Program

The Board of Behaviour Therapy and Learning Centre (BTLC) is proud to announce a new 10 week Parent & Tot Dance Program starting this fall for young children (2-5) diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Led by a qualified Dance Instructor and a Behaviour Consultant, this 45 minute class will focus on introducing children to creative movement, rhythmic play and music through activities facilitated by the use of props, musical instruments and games. It is an excellent opportunity to introduce children to a social setting with the participation of parents. Using the techniques of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), the class will also teach parents of children with development disabilities, how to teach their children learning-how-to-learn skills such as imitation, attention and behavioural self-control in a supported and welcoming environment. The conception and creation of this program is made possible by generous grants awarded by Calgary Foundation and the Allies for Autism Foundation.

The Sinneave Family Foundation Resource Centre has generously allowed us the use of their space for this program, located at the Calgary Children’s Hospital Child Development Centre Main Floor, 3820 24th Ave NW. Cost for the 10 week session is $295.00.

If you wish to be notified of upcoming session dates and times, please call 403-217-5876 and leave a message to express your interest in being contacted with registration information when it becomes available.
